Making flower girl dresses isn’t all we do at Pegeen. We are also well known for our ability to fit larger and older girls, called Junior Bridesmaids. These Jr. Bridesmaids Dresses were made in Navy Silk and called style 320 with two lovely flowers in the back.  In a recent wedding, photographed by Christopher Lane, these 4 ladies stood at attendance with the bride.

Sometimes at Pegeen, I just can’t wait for pix to be submitted, which we ask for after a wedding is over. There are some custom flower girl dresses that we make that I think are absolutely scrumptious.  Then – you get a dress that is so different, yet when you see it, you go WOW!  Anticipation begins, and then we start emailing our bride to get the photos as quickly as possible. It’s that time of year when we wind down making flower girl dresses and shift to family.  I think of the many I have lost, including another Aunt in the past couple of days, our “uncle” Dave – one of the funniest guys and brilliant US Attorney, and very sadly, my Mom so I want to remind everyone, be good to your families. Its that time of the year again when we are getting calls about First Communion Dresses and your churches will be giving your dates soon.  What are the fashions for the year to come.

Honestly, I can’t say that fashions have changed that dramatically and I am reminded of that while watching one of my favorite shows MAD MEN on AMC.   Little Sally wears the dress styles (albeit shorter) that so typically are what I call FIRST COMMUNION STYLE for Dresses.  Natural waist, usually organza, rather about the materials than the glam.

Do churches allow color?  For the past 10-15 years or so,  the Catholic Church has allowed that outfits can be everyday dresses and can have color.  But, can you really watch THE GODFATHER series without knowing your child’s communion will pretty much follow suit? Our image of what our son or daughter will look like at their communion hasn’t changed really that much.

Some customers will choose to add an accent color, usually pale, and some others will choose ivory, but trust me, when receiving First Communion, it’s pretty much like a wedding, and the bride always wore white (or ivory).

Flower girl dresses in tulle are our favorite to make – each one individual like a tiny sugar plum fairy. This wedding for Ranae had wonderful photography by www.rayanthonyphoto.com. The bride had chosen a special color blue sapphire to go with her maid of honor and a boy’s ring bearer suit with white silk knickers and shirt and a double breasted sapphire blue jacket.

Ranae had the most wonderful use of flowers on her pews and centerpieces and repeated in the hand made flowers on her cake.

Pegeen Flower Girl Dresses of the Month in Blue Tulle

Pegeen.com is pleased to present our selection for Wedding of the Month for December with a lovely ceremony and reception held at the The Westin Riverwalk in San Antonio, TX.  The Photographer of the Month is the wonderful Reine Mihtla of Vancover. Our bride and groom celebrated the Bride’s Asian heritage in their wedding.  On the morning of her wedding, for the Chinese Tea Ceremony, Sarah wore the traditional Chinese Gown passed down from her mother.
