The season for ballet schools choices for the Nutcracker Party Scene signifies something special in my heart. I had been a dancer since age 3 at my Aunt Marcia’s dance school called the Marcia Hyland School of Dance located (in those days) in her basement in Ramblewood, NJ. Marcia and Uncle Johnny started the school in the 1960’s and as a little girl, I longed to be on Pointe Shoes. I LOVED White Christmas when the little ballerinas appeared in red and white tulle costumes too! My father and mother took us children to see the Nutcracker Suite Ballet at the Philadelphia Ballet, and I would come back dreaming of Sugar Plum Fairy’s and of course, the Prince. As a teen, I was able to see Baryshnikov perform in the Ballet. I later studied and graduated with a Masters in Dance and Theater Design and dreamed of creating costumes for movies. I never made it to Hollywood though I got to dance professionally. SO, I have a special warmth designing dresses for the Nutcracker performances all over the country from Aspen, to San Diego, and Charleston plus 100 other ballet schools and companies nationally.
Our collection is not quite complete – but this year, we decided to present a line of finished dresses in 200 colors that go perfectly for Clara and the Party Scene in the Nutcracker Ballet. In a week or two there will be another 4-5 dresses or suits for your Holiday Dresses and Christmas parties of your own, even if your daughter does not get to be Clara in the Nutcracker Ballet.

This customer chose to base her flower girl dresses on style 701 and chose red and black with sparkle tulle for Nutcracker Tulle and her flower girl dresses 701 which is part of The Nutcracker Party Dress Collection. She chose to have multiple layers of tulle covered with red sparkle tulle and the black silk bodice was trimmed with white fur and sparkle snowflakes. The Ballerina used the dress for her Ballet Performance in the Nutcracker Suite performance at her dance company.
