Gold and Black – a new trend forthcoming

June 20th, 2009 by Pegeen.com | No Comments | Filed in Black Weddings, Tulle dresses, Wedding Planning

This week I sent two dresses to a customer of ours in St. Helena CA for a family wedding.  Both are to be worn by her daughter.  She sent me a wonderful compliment:

The dresses just arrived a little while ago and Lauren tried both of them on—they are absolutely stunning and fit PERFECTLY!!!  They far exceeded our expectations in quality and design.  You rock!!!  …. There is no reason why you can’t be making millions!  Your business is fabulous!

I was pretty happy with her kind words even though I know that everytime someone gets a package from us, the compliments are similar.  But I couldn’t help to think that while the gang at the factory was finishing up her dress that we needed in a hurry how many more GOLD (our color called WHEAT) and BLACK weddings that we were actually doing!  The factory bins seemed to be full of them!  Humm… new trend?

Who or rather What I admire in the Bridal Industry….

April 21st, 2009 by Pegeen.com | 1 Comment | Filed in Wedding Planning

BrideTide had recently put a challenge up to wedding professionals to write about someone in the industry that they admire.  I am positive that there will be those who will write about someone who they really believe deserves mention and I can hardly wait to read everyone’s posts.  That said, however, and being one of the very first companies to get onto the internet in the mid-1990’s I am going to do something a little more TIME MAGAZINE like and instead, name what I believe has helped, or more dramatically, changed the wedding industry more than any other thing and that is our friend, THE INTERNET. Wedding of the month: An Irish Wedding

March 13th, 2009 by Pegeen.com | No Comments | Filed in Destination Weddings, Flower Girl Dresses, Green Weddings, Wedding Planning

I started my company in March of 1982, appropriately given the Irish name of Pegeen, with the assistance of my mother,  Joan.  Sadly and with great heartache, my mother passed away this month.  Mom suffered from Alzheimer’s  and my company will not be the same without her encouragement and taste.  I love you Mom.

For all of you who remember the two of us working together at the trade shows in New York, Chicago and Las Vegas, I am sure you will miss her strong presence and charm like I do.  Mom helped me at so many of the shows, tirelessly.  Once, an editor wrote a story about us at Pegeen and included an appropriate description of her: Spry and energetic.  Donations in remembrance of Mrs. Hyland can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001

We are also so pleased to present our latest Wedding of the Month for March.  This is a special month for me, as it represents 27 years of business for us here at Pegeen.com®  when I started our company.  This months wedding highlight is a wedding in Ireland.  Our bride chose style 345 for her girls, in Grass Green and Grape and for the ring bearer, a white silk suit in style 215.  They purchased a matching silk ring bearer pillow. Venue: The Ardenode Country House Hotel www.ardenodehotel.com Ballymore Eustace, County Kildare 045 864198

Tahiti Beach Wedding

Tahiti Beach Wedding

I had contacted one of my brides in Australia, dying to see her outfits we did for 3 flower girls and 2 ring bearers.  Much to my surprise she told me the wedding occurred in Tahiti!  I am ready to pack up my bags! “Le Virman (the ceremony was set on the beach in the sunset and the dinner was at the ‘O’ Restaurant next to the beach) www.SamedResorts.com.”

I especially loved her Petal Aisle and it sure made for a lot of fun for her little attendants.  Can you just imagine the smell! (more…)

A LITTLE INSIGHT TO FLOWER GIRL DRESS TRENDS

October 1st, 2008 by Jimf | No Comments | Filed in Flower Girl Dresses, Wedding Planning

by ~ Marg Hyland, President  Pegeen.com

Questions have recently come to us about flower girl dressing and what this means to your wedding party.  So, I have added a small section that will take care of the Flower Girl Dresses – Question of the Week:

What is the perfect age for a flower girl? How old is a flower girl? How old is a junior bridesmaid?

We are wanting to have my husband’s daughter in the wedding as a flower girl but I think that she should stand out a bit.  My question is pretty simple: “Is it okay if my flower girl dresses in all white (ivory) like me?” (more…)
