Our Choice for the DIY 2010 Wedding of the Year

Because we had so many BEAUTIFUL weddings to choose from, this year we decided to choose a wedding that was totally done by the bride, enlisting the help with her friends, who were “a huge help pulling the wedding together”.  Megan’s budget was $30,000 for 300 guests ~ that’s an amazing $100 per guest for EVERYTHING.  We won’t say we choose Megan’s wedding as our DIY Wedding/Flower Girl Dress of the Year because of the economy (urgh) – instead we chose it because Chloe, Lauren and Lisi who were three of the most beautiful flower girls in our dresses !! Our bride chose Flower Girl Dress style 356 in ivory with three shades of aqua silk.  As soon as Megan said to us “I want the wedding to be in shade of “sea glass” we got IMMEDIATELY what she said and we were VERY excited to see the girls walking down the aisle in Pegeen!  The dresses were in ivory duchess satin with tulle and each had a different color of aqua or tiffany… Bermuda (the darkest shade), Sea Shore, and Aqualine silk was used for the sashes on the flower girl dresses.

Just the other day,   I posted an image of a new Tiffany blue flower girl dress we had made just about ready to go down the aisle.  I thought it was the most beautiful dress I ever saw until we finished this one!

Made with Violet Silk, we made a lilac sash and then layered 4 different colors of tulle – from top to bottom, Lavender tulle, Lilac tulle, Amethyst Tulle and French Blue.  It was outrageous!  Can’t wait to see it on next month.

I STILL can not get over how beautiful these tulle flower girl dresses looked in Tiffany Blue.  We loved this so much we named it our Flower Girl Dress of the Week.  A little post script,  as my husband and I are planning our 25th wedding anniversary this year, its getting harder and harder for me to choose!

Each month at Pegeen.com, we receive photos from our brides or moms after an event has occurred.  For me, it’s like opening presents.  I never know what is going to be inside, but sure I am going to like it.  About 3 years ago, after it became more convenient for brides to send digital pictures, the flood gates opened and we receive hundreds each month.  Usually accompanied by a lovely note, our brides began to show me some of their good ideas.  Once that happened, I would send a nice note back and let them know that I enjoyed their pictures.  One bride said, I don’t mind if you share my photos on your website.  Well duh! Thus we started the Weddings of the Month.

What a great way to share ideas of what other brides have done, while highlighting of course, their little munchkins in their Pegeen attire!  Then, about 2 years ago, I will never forget, a bride in TN sent me the most incredible DVD filled with gorgeous photography from Eric McCarty www.thelightphotography.com.   One particular photo showed the absolute exhaustion by a little two year old that stole my heart!  That was all I needed to create our very first “Pegeen Flower Girl Dress/Wedding of the Year“.  It was followed a year later by a fabulous wedding we loved because of the details in pink, especially the flowers! Sometimes at Pegeen, I just can’t wait for pix to be submitted, which we ask for after a wedding is over. There are some custom flower girl dresses that we make that I think are absolutely scrumptious.  Then – you get a dress that is so different, yet when you see it, you go WOW!  Anticipation begins, and then we start emailing our bride to get the photos as quickly as possible. Pegeen Flower Girl Dresses of the Month in Blue Tulle

Pegeen.com is pleased to present our selection for Wedding of the Month for December with a lovely ceremony and reception held at the The Westin Riverwalk in San Antonio, TX.  The Photographer of the Month is the wonderful Reine Mihtla of Vancover. Our bride and groom celebrated the Bride’s Asian heritage in their wedding.  On the morning of her wedding, for the Chinese Tea Ceremony, Sarah wore the traditional Chinese Gown passed down from her mother.

I am SO excited that our photos from our new model of the year semi-finalist is finished!  I was happy that her brother decided to join in the photo shoot although I understand a bribe by his mother was consummated!
