This customer needed a flower girl dress in a hurry for her granddaughter in a pageant just 5 days away! This adorable combination of sprite green, hot pink and ivory silk encrusted with sequins and two silk flowers in the back was whipped up in just a day and sent along the way!  This is one photo I am REALLY going to look forward to seeing right away and put it in our RAVES GALLERY!

When my customer told me that she was going to have her daughter in her wedding who was not able to walk I wondered how she would pull it off.  Imagine my delight when she send the photos of her end run (as in Baby not walking yet.)  I loved how she had her florist decorate a wagon for the infant.

wedding colors.  If you subscribe to the misdirected GLOBAL WARMING craziness or not (NOT!) it sure has made the color Green more popular with wedding colors.  A recent survey of 450 brides who have visited our Pegeen.com site and requested free swatches have shown that of those, GREEN WEDDINGS almost out-requests BLACK.  Now, this is by no means a scientific study but a year from now, I promise you, I will definitely publish those color request statistics.

I am totally enamored with these wonderful “Flower Kissing Balls”,  because they are so easy for a flower girl to carry. 

Another name, a Pomander, is a round ball of fresh flowers and has the easy handle made from a soft ribbon. These pomanders, which are fashioned after mistletoe hanging during the Christmas festivities, they have been named Flower Kissing Balls which is a throwback to the mistletoe kiss given.

Although I am seeing more and more of these Kissing Balls in multi colors I also have been loving the monochromatic tones of same color and hue roses.

Sometimes at Pegeen, I just can’t wait for pix to be submitted, which we ask for after a wedding is over. There are some custom flower girl dresses that we make that I think are absolutely scrumptious.  Then – you get a dress that is so different, yet when you see it, you go WOW!  Anticipation begins, and then we start emailing our bride to get the photos as quickly as possible. A panicked bride called me this morning at 7.30am as I happened to be in the office early – (first day of school for my kids …yeah) to pick up her call.

She was beside herself: not only had the bridal store left her high and dry without her flower girl dresses for the kids in the wedding but she was worried that the poly satin dresses she had ordered would have been too hot for the girls anyhow. HELLO. What August wedding doesn’t average a sweltering 1000 degrees, especially when its your wedding?

I will never forget being a Jr. bridesmaid at my Aunt’s August 23rd wedding about 100 years ago. I wore this horrible thing made of polyester which at the time was quite hip to wear and I know I complained constantly to my mother who was melting in her ensemble as well. Being a little “dressmaker” myself (I learned to sew making Barbie clothes and progressed to matching outfits for myself by 3rd grade), I knew (I am saying this in my best Scarlett O’Hara voice) that I would never wear polyester again. We are so pleased to present our latest Wedding of the Month for March.  This is a special month for me, as it represents 27 years of business for us here at Pegeen.com®  when I started our company.  This months wedding highlight is a wedding in Ireland.  Our bride chose style 345 for her girls, in Grass Green and Grape and for the ring bearer, a white silk suit in style 215.  They purchased a matching silk ring bearer pillow. I will also add that I started the company in March of 1982, appropriately given the Irish name of Pegeen, with the assistance of my mother,  Joan.  Sadly and with great heartache, my mother passed away this month.  Mom suffered from Alzheimer’s  and my company will not be the same without her encouragement and taste.  I love you Mom.
