Each year, we pour through tens of thousands of photos from our brides & moms who share their photography with us.  In the past few years, we started sharing our favorites, calling them the “Wedding of the Month”…. well the images got better and better.  So, a few years ago, we named our first “Wedding of the Year” and this year we have a BEAUTIFUL wedding in all shades of Pink.   Traditionally, we view the photos that are sent —-  as we try to decide who will be named our Grande Wedding of the Year!  Positively the most fun we have and certainly the most rewarding to see the fruits of our labor in your photos!  Again, this year was no exception for beautiful.

The bride chose style 402 from our Couture Collection in soft baby pink handwoven  silk dupione for the body of the dress,  with 10 individual layers of tulle (in 4 colors) and a bisque colored sash.  Additionally, we added two large bouquets of silk roses and tousled up the bustle in back as only Pegeen can.  The flower girl   can wear complimentary styles to the wedding party which makes her  feel like she is a special part of your day.  At Pegeen, we are not fond of them wearing white or ivory to match the bride because we think only the bride should shine.  Therefore, Pegeen offers over 200 in-stock colors with access to 500 more!

I always love to see photos of my customer’s children in our flower girl dresses or ring bearer suits – it is a real source of pride and satisfaction knowing that we helped to make someone’s day a little more beautiful.  When we get photos we place them in our customer gallery filled with thousands of photographs of our customers weddings, special events and more.   We also put our customers comments and accolades about our flower girl dresses and suits.   We also feature them in a special section called Wedding by Colors.

So, for my beautiful flower girl dress, I got the most lovely of children to wear it.   This little flower girl reminded me of these beautiful porcelain dolls my father would buy for me when he was on a trip abroad.  It is in pale platinum with an ivory silk sash and the skirt is made of multiple shades of pink, ivory, white and gray to give the tulle skirt a softer but steel-y color.

Every time I get a chance to put up a favorite Flower Girl Dress of the Week, a new one comes in and I can’t wait to get the new photograph up.

This dress was made for a very special little girl who’s mother I fell in love with on the phone!  We had so much fun designing her dress together and the sweetest call of my day this past week was when Pat called me to say “My daughters dress is going to make her look like an angel!  I can’t say enough about how beautiful it is.”

Made of the pale colors of silver and silver-blue this tulle flower girl dress is made of Platinum Silk, with a Steele Blue silk sash.  Although my customer did not ask for it, I just HAD to put the blue silk rose on the back.

This month, we decided to feature another really beautiful Bat Mitzvah that we dressed the girl for. Although we have featured many weddings over the past number of years, I couldn’t resist breaking with the tradition once again and highlight this wonderful family event.

The hot pink and lime green dress picked up the awesome table cloths with ribbons on it. Really set the theme!!

What set this apart this month was the wonderful food catered by New Roc Glatt who just happened to be the proud parents! New Roc Glatt is a kosher take out market and caterer located in New Rochelle, NY 914-636-2600

This past week I had two very interesting calls but both were similar observations… what can we do with the children at the reception?

Think about it – the festivities can start as early as two hours before the wedding ceremony begins, the ceremony another hour and a half, photos and then a five hour reception.  When the children are small, where do you fit in the nap?  Do the children end up collapsing in a heap about half way through the day?

If the photographs were evidence enough, I have seen countless children at a wedding in a melt down.  Does that mean that the children shouldn’t be in the wedding?  This is a moment where you have to make a choice based on the relationship of the child to the bride or groom.  In many instances, the child is the daughter or son or step-child of the couple, or the ring bearer your God-son, the flower girl your favorite niece.  Your day wouldn’t be the same if they were not in attendance.  So, WHAT TO DO.

Here are some helpful ideas that other brides have shared with me over the years:

NAP TIME – Weddings can be pretty crazy and you know your child the best.  Some of the best things you can do for young children is to talk with the reception hall to see where you can find a quiet time place for your young attendants.  Once a bride (a pre-school teacher) said she arranged for NapMats to come to the reception hall.  Most places will accomodate your wishes and have suggestions.

MAKING IT THROUGH THE CEREMONY: I put cheerios in my niece’s busy bag and had the candle holders put it on the bench prior to wedding.  Parents have told me they have made a busy basket for the church.

RECEPTION LINES: Are you crazy?

KIDS TABLE:  I never liked them until one of my former brides tied in the most awesome GOODIES (in shades of pink no less) for the kids to keep busy, complete with the hand held kind of games found at the check out aisles like Etch a Sketch and Maze Games.  I thought that kids tables gave them too much candy and not enough substance but keeping things interesting when it gets too boring can really help make the night go smoothly.  (See our Wedding of the Year for 2009 for more ideas)

We have FINALLY moved our offices and have been busy getting organized and buttoned up “purdy”.

Our latest creation is bound to be one of my favorite flower girl dresses thus far.  Perhaps because this flower girl dress is made in new colors, or the beautiful flower in back.  Top is in New Ivory Silk with Silk in Key Lime under and ivory organza skirt and a sash made in the color called Purple Heart.
